Guilty Pleasure

I love Edith Wharton books. Which is strange because all of her books end sadly and her heroines are usually misguided or evil (not my usual taste). I started with Ethan Frome - which is my least favorite, and then I read The House of Mirth and The Custom of the Country. Now I am reading The Age of Innocence. I can never re-read Wharton books. But her picturesque portrayals of a life unraveling are so captivating the first time through.

Skulking back to Blogsphere

I'm a very unsatisfactory bloggist. My explanation is that it is ridiculous to spend free time on the computer when it's so lovely to be outside.

But I'm back! And I'm going to be married, although, everyone who reads my blog knows this by now.

I read these books recently:


I read the Anne books to remedy the nasty flavor of the Steig Larsson book. You'll note I had to read four of them. This should tell you how horrible The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is. Don't read The Time Traveller's Wife either, unless you enjoy feeling depressed and dealing with others' fictional abandonment issues. I can however recommend Naked on God's Doorstep and Too Busy Not to Pray, both are wonderful.

And does anyone know of a nice wedding locale that is stunningly gorgeous, wonderfully convenient and scandalously inexpensive?
