Lately the temperature in my room has dropped. I have no control over the thermostat so I piled blankets on my bed. And then the temperature dropped again. But I was out of blankets. So I shiver for a while before going to sleep. I get warm after a bit, except for my hands and feet, which stay cold for much longer. I thought I might exercise before going to bed, which works, but when I get off work at 10:30 or 11:00pm, the last thing I want to do is go jog.
So here is my solution. Before I go to sleep, I set my laptop on the end of my bed - it's sitting there now, as I blog. When I crawl into bed I have a nice pre-warmed spot for my feet. It's sort of like having a puppy, except the laptop can be used to communicate with nearly anyone on the planet, and it's not cuddly.

What do you have to be stressful about?!
"Hi, could you me where the closest 24 hour pharmacy is and if they take my insurance?"
"The closest 24 is CVS, but I have no idea about the insuance. There's a pay phone and telephone book right there."
"You don't know??"
And they look at me like I'm some kind of fraud.

"Hi, I can't find one of my oxygen tanks... I heard you gave it to 7 south."
"Well, actually, the triage PCA gave it to them, but I just called 7 south, they said they'd be bringing it down."
"When?"
"Where are they?"
"I don't know."
And they look at me like I'm some kind of idiot.

"Hi, I was wondering if I could have a number for someone who will give me free prescriptions and maybe some dinner and a swiss bank account and your life blood and first born child?"
"No."
And they look at me like I'm some kind of jerk.

And did you know you can buy the world's largest gummy bear for $29.99 plus shipping?

Verbal Blessings
Here are my two favorite word usages from today:
"Next we will multiplicate these two terms."
- Mathematics study group
"I feel very gruntled about this desert and coffee."
- Alana Smith over a yummy buttery pumpkiny desert

New Lappy
"Hi, Jon? So is it going to be the $70 repair?" That was the worst case scenario we had discussed.
"Um... no..."
"So what's up?"
"I don't know how to tell you this... your laptop caught fire."
"What?"
"Yeah, I was putting in the very last screw on the new disc drive, and it wasn't plugged in, but it... yeah, caught fire."
"Caught fire???!!"
"It was a contained fire."
"Wow... so it's dead?"
"Well... pretty fried."
(Hence, the lack of blogging)
In other news:
I'm going to be an Auntie. Next June.
